I hate the frakking friend zone, you know? No girl ever seems to see me as anything besides... I don't know, a kid. Or any guy, for that matter, but I'm so afraid of my own bicuriosity that I don't even want to admit it to myself. I'm not that young.
I haven't had a real date that didn't involve a mistaken identity or being used for some ulterior motive since high school, pretty much.
It just freaks me out sometimes, because I'm afraid I'm going to end up alone.

[It's like he knows her very, very well. She giggles through most of the riff, hands clapping along with Neil and the audience. When the riff is over, she picks the lyrics back up again.]

[Neil is gratified with the giggling, and in a somewhat-drunk moment of bravery, he winks at her.

When the song ends, he gestures to her with both arms, encouraging the audience to give it up for her. Then he takes a small, humble bow himself, and waves.]

[Okay, the somewhat-drunk moment of bravery is adorable. She grins at him, shaking her head then looks back to the audience. She does a deep, Southern belle style curtsy then looks back to Neil. He should probably be worried or excited judging by the wicked grin on her lips.

She moves over to him, one hand going to the back of his neck, the other to his arm. She tiptoes so she can whisper in his ear.]

Swoony kiss .Follow my lead, don't drop me and make it good.

[Then she tugs him down into a kiss, tugging him down deeper into a sort of dip motion. If he does follow her lead, it'll be a deep dip/swoon kiss, she'll let him take on most of her weight and do the one leg in the air thing. If he doesn't, well it'll look more stiff 'cause she's trying not to fall.]

[Showmanship! That's exciting to Neil and his chronic (but often latent) Look-at-Me Syndrome. Being seen kissing the beautiful girl on stage only sweetens the deal.

Neil promptly does as he is told. He wraps his arms around her and meets the kiss with a quiet determination-- and, even more determinedly, presses himself not to drop her.]

[Oh good. He should get shallow attention-getting gratification out of this as well. The not dropping thing is aided by the fact that she's teeny barely 5'1 barefoot and 100 pounds. The kiss breaks and she laughs, standing up, her arm still up around his neck.]

[Neil laughs too, a little breathlessly, his eyes shining with excitement.]

[She laces her fingers with his and leads him off stage.] Shot time! Any requests?

Grape sodas are awesome. [And once they get to the bar with Lucy tugging Neil along, she'll order two more. This works well. Lucy likes to be bossy and Neil doesn't mind being bossed. At least not tonight in the bar. When the grape sodas come, Lucy slides one shot over to him and takes one for herself.]

We should really toast. How do you feel about Alabama football?

[You've made one Southern girl very happy. She picks up the shot glass, grinning from ear to ear.]

[She tosses the shot back then leans forward to kiss Neil]

[Neil smiles, happy an comfortably hazy.]

[Lucy giggles a little and nods.]

So what now? We've done A, B, C and D. [She touches her upper lip with the tip of her tongue.] There's always F.

[Lucy bites her bottom lip. The expression on her face is absolutely mischievous.]

You know. F.

[That is a scary face for a girl. Good, but scary. Neil gulps.]

--Ngh. Uhmm. I, uh....

I'm totally taking that for a yes, let's go with option F. [And she starts pulling him toward the door.] We can't go to my place. I'm guessing your room mates are home. Empty apartment then?

[And then she sees the expression on his face and she leans in to kiss him.] It's okay, Neil. You've got this one.

[Empty apartment. And, okay, they're actually leaving. Neil breaks out in a cold sweat.

But he kisses her and manages a small nod.]

[The nerves aren't lost on her. That's why every few steps of the walk she stops, pushes him up against a building or a wall and kisses him, hands roaming much more boldly than previously.]

[Lucy is uncannily good at knowing how to deal with this-- the stops along the way mean that Neil has very little time to think, and no time for thinking means no time for overanalysing and subsequent freaking out. He begins to relax as they go, falling into the rhythm less reserved and more desperate.]

[She's sort of done this before. Eventually they end up in an elevator, Lucy's hands under Neil's shirt, fingernails scratching lightly at his back, tickling down his chest and stomach to the waistband of his pants.]

This needs to be off.

[It's said breathlessly between nibbles and kisses to his neck while she tugs upward on his shirt.]

Right. [He raises his arms up over his head to facilitate the shirt being yanked off, and it doesn't take long, but Neil finds he doesn't like a break in contact even for a second-- so as soon as his arms are free again, he tangles his fingers in Lucy's hair to pull her back in to him again.[

[Lucy is all too happy to oblige, letting herself be pulled into the kiss. She runs her fingers through his hair, tip toeing up into the kiss. He's warm and she can almost feel his heart beating between them. It makes her more desperate to have him even closer.]
