[The first comment makes her laugh out loud.] If you end up a six year old girl I'll take you for a pedicure and ice cream.

[She sobers, dips a bit more of her shake out with her finger, and nods.] He will. Eventually. Maybe he just needs to work it all out in his head first. And when he does tell you, just assure him that you're still there for him. Just like always.

There for him? [Neil is beginning to suspect she knows more than she's letting on.] Yeah, sure. I mean, I just... dunno if he really wants that.

Through whatever it is that's making him so upset? [Yeah, her poker face sucks. She will stick to her guns about not telling though. Particular where this is concerned.] He's your best friend. Of course he wants that. I mean unless guys are drastically different from girls on the whole friend thing.

[He sighs.] Best friend, yeah. But he's not really acting like it. [He takes another pull on his straw.] 'S avoiding me. Got back almost two weeks ago, and I could fit every word he's said to me on one side of a notecard.

Like I said. Time. I still haven't talked to Jill about the whole dead thing and I tell her everything. Sometimes time is necessary. And avoidance just means it's gonna take more time. [More scooping ice cream out with her finger and licking it off.]

Yeah, well. He's kind of being a jerk about it. [He runs a hand through his hair.] I think he's been-- when he was back home, I mean-- I think he's been talking to. Uh, someone.

[Lucy scooches over a little, reaching out one leg to try and hook around Neil's leg and pull him closer. Distraction is good for him right now.]

Someone who?

Eh. My ex. He was hanging out with her a lot before I left, and I'm pretty sure that's why he was being weird then, too. She's probably told him all sorts of stupid lies about me.

Neil...[She's giving him a 'really?' look] Do you really think Stephen would believe lies about you? Especially from an ex girlfriend?

She can be... really persuasive. I think she might have, like, crazy mind-control powers or something.

[Lucy arches a very doubtful eyebrow up at Neil.] And yet she didn't use them to get you to sleep with her.

[He swallows hard on a mouthful of shake, very nearly giving himself an ice cream headache.] I don't think she even wanted that. She had these, like, moments of temporary insanity.

[Well that was adorable. She's still giving him the 'really? Think about this] So...she was a lesbian? Not because of the insane. Because of the not wanting that. Or a Catholic school girl. Again because of the not wanting it. Possibly also because of the insane. If you're Catholic I apologize.

[He grins.] Sometimes I wondered. She totally was a Catholic school girl though.

Okay. Maybe I'll buy the freaky mind control thing. [He's grinning so she doesn't bring up Stephen again. She'd like to keep him grinning which explains her next action. She dips her finger in her shake then holds it out to him.] Try mine.

[Neil isn't sure why he's still a little surprised by her sometimes, but she's certainly good at improving his mood. He clutched her hand in both of his and briefly takes her finger into his mouth, eyes locked on hers as he does so.]

'S good.

[It's one of the things she finds most charming about him. She likes surprising people and he gives good surprise.]

Special sauce. [She reaches over and swirls her finger through his shake.] Now yours will be 50% better than before. [And she licks his shake off her own finger.]

[He watches her earnestly, at this point having mostly forgot what he was upset about to begin with.]

50%, eh? I'm gonna hold you to that.

[Good. That's the point after all. She nods at him, still grinning.]

At least.

[And she reaches over, dips her finger in his glass again but this time she smears it on her neck, tilting her head to the side, chin up.]

Taste.

[He quirks an eyebrow. Lucy is easily his favourite person in the world today. He takes her by the arms and leans in, licking a slow trail up her neck.]

I think you're selling your secret ingredient short. That's easily, like, at least 75% better.

[Only today? Well that might bother her. She giggles as he licks her neck. It's a little ticklish, in a good way, and a lot silly. Also in a good way.]

I'll have to change my entire ad campaign but I think you're going to really like the VIP secret ingredient.

[Thanks to the miracle of a push up bra, she's actually got cleavage today so she reaches over, trying not to move away from him, and scoops out some of her ice cream then dribbles it over her cleavage and looks expectantly at him.]

VIP? Cool.

[Yeah, this move has kind of drained any semblance of witty repertoire Neil may have had. He nuzzles against Lucy's neck briefly before drawing his tongue over the curve of her chest.]

[Speechless is always a good look on a boy, as long as the speechlessness is caused by something good. It sort of ruins the mood. She bites her bottom lip, still giggling a little as she arches her back a bit.]

You would have loved the day my skin tasted like strawberry ice cream.

[She stood on the corner and sold licks. On her wrist. Mostly. Occasionally on her neck.]

[He lifts his head and raises his eyebrows at her. Yes, yes he would have liked that quite a bit.]

The day your what huh?

[That gets another giggle out of her. Again, speechlessness is a good thing.]
